Sex workers demonstrate in Paris and Madrid

It was a busy week-end.

On Saturday, there was in Paris a demonstration to oppose violence against women. However, one of the feminists’ demands was the criminalisation of our clients. A group of sex workers from the French sex workers’ trade union STRASS with the support of Act Up and queer students went to explain that criminalising clients will increase violence against us.

Morgane Merteuil is the general secretary of STRASS. (She’s my friend and a hero)

On Sunday, in Madrid more than 200 sex workers also demonstrated. I am not sure I understood everything but I think it’s to demand the end of police arrests on the streets and the recognition of sex work as work.

I just have to say they make me very proud.
